Ger Buckley – Head of Lending

Ger is an experienced Commercial Banker who has worked in the Irish Banking Sector for over 30 years. Together with our family office owners, Ger has driven the growth of Courtstown Finance from an SPV dealing with own personal contacts when we commenced in 2017, to become the successful alternative lender, with a nationwide reach, we are today.

Ger started his career in the 1980’s with AIB and held a diverse range of roles in AIB including Branch Manager in multiple branches, Treasury Manager and Senior Portfolio Lending Manager. He was also Joint Executive Manager in AIB’s flagship Munster Branch in 66 South Mall, Cork where he was responsible for leading and motivating a team of over 100 colleagues. Ger was subsequently a member of the senior management team in AIB NAMA Munster Office. He has a proven track record in exercising significant personal Lending discretion and presenting quality lending proposals to credit partners. His areas of expertise include Deal Advisory, and Relationship and Project Management.

Ger holds qualifications with the Institute of Bankers and as a Financial Adviser. He has built up a significant network in Munster and across Ireland due to his long-standing relationships in his former roles in AIB and his role as a founder, and Head of Strategy and Lending, in Courtstown. Ger also Chairs Courtown’s Credit Committee.

Colm Creedon – Lending Portfolio Manager

Colm joined the senior team of Courtstown Finance in March 2024, to further develop Courtstown’s capacity to service a wider customer lending base across Ireland.

Colm has over 20 years banking experience in lending, restructuring and loan recovery in both Ireland and the UK. Colm has also worked as a finance manager for a successful Irish development company and a banking and business consultant in the private sector for numerous Irish and overseas entities. He holds an undergraduate degree in Finance, a Higher Diploma and Masters in Economics from University College Cork and is QFA qualified with the Institute of Bankers in Ireland.

Colm is the main senior contact within Courtstown for existing borrowers, and maintains regular communication with all of our borrower clients.

Finbarr Flahive – Service Partner, Smerwick Corporate Services Ltd

Finbarr is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience across all aspects of accounting, finance and business advisory. Finbarr ran his own Chartered Accountancy practice previously, and has been involved in all aspects of raising bank finance, and alternative debt and equity funding for SMEs and investment projects over many years. In addition, Finbarr is a Member of the Institute of Directors, with a track record as Finance Director, and as a Non-Executive Director, across a variety of companies and sectors.

Finbarr provides a key role in the Courtstown loan application process, where he guides the borrower through from the initial enquiry, right through the loan application preparation & submission process, and is there to support the borrower through to closing and beyond. Finbarr’s in-depth knowledge of Courtstown’s funding model and lending criteria, allows him to structure and package the borrower’s lending proposal in a manner which ensures a quick turnaround of all proposals, and a high success rate for proposals which progress beyond the preliminary screening process.
